Will. The will mentions a 'dear friend' Levi Cooke, who lived in Canal St and is listed in the electoral roll of 1907 & 1911 as living in 'Canal Rd' . Advert available from 1880 taken from 'Directory of Cheshire Towns 1880' by Morris & Co.- The business had been bought or taken over from a Mr Joseph Steele who was a cabinet maker at 10 High St from 1848 to around 1878/9 (according to directory's of the time). The 1910 electoral roll shows George & Jacob in 'High St' Congleton, with 'a share of leaseold house & workshop' in Victoria St, Congleton. |
