| Notes |
Advert available from 1880 taken from 'Directory of Cheshire Towns 1880' by Morris & Co.- The business had been bought or taken over from a Mr Joseph Steele who was a cabinet maker at 10 High St from 1848 to around 1878/9 (according to directory's of the time). It looks like Jacob lived in or abaove the shop. The 1910 electoral roll shows George & Jacob in 'High St' Congleton, with 'a share of leaseold house & workshop' in Victoria St, Congleton. After moving to Shropshire, he is listed in the electoral roll as having leasehold houses at 14 & 16 Parson Street, Congleton. |
